Childhood friend in NY

My childhood friend is living in New York for over 21 years and I haven't seen her and her family for almost 3 years now. I ask my husband if we could celebrate our christmas with them. He said, that we had to plan our new york vacation so we can also going sight seeing around New York while on vacation. I've been longing to visit New York on christmastime since I have childhood friend there and we can stay in their house just like the first time we visit them. I wish my husband will agree this time.
